MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That this Committee approves the examination of the courtyard in Rathfarnham Castle from the perspective of providing a weekly farmer's market at this location." 

REPORT:

Rathfarnham Castle is under the control of the Office of Public Works, rather than South Dublin County Council.

Over the past four years or so, there have been a number of attempts to establish a Farmer's Market. None of these attempts were successful unfortunately. In the present climate, it is going to be very difficult to find funding for such a market, and that is on the presumption that the OPW would have no objection to the establishment of such a market in Rathfarnham Castle.

If the motion is passed, we will make the necessary enquiries.
