To ask the Manager for a report on costs of public lighting in 2012, compared to the agreed budget; and to outline the measures in place to manage these costs?

The spend on Public lighting is within the revised budget for 2012. A more specific approach to reviewing expenditure during the year has resulted in better control on the outturn.
The National Procurement Service (NPS) has set up mandatory Framework Agreements for the Supply of Electricity and Natural Gas in order to achieve the best value for money (VFM) for the Public Sector.
The NPS is currently holding a mini competition for the supply of electricity to the Local Authority Sector for the period commencing on 1 November 2012. This competition will cater for both metered and unmetered supplies, South Dublin County Council is one of the Local Authorities participating in this procurement process.
