MOTION NO.10

MOTION: Councillor M. Duff

That this Council congratulates the Manager for the Halloween Initiative of giving each household in the County free access to Ballymount Civic Amenity on Saturday 27th October and acknowledging the vast numbers who used the facility on that day, calls on the Manager to (A) extend the free pass to enter over a weekend instead of just one day, (B) to ensure that the Free Pass is clearly identifiable as such, and (C) in an effort to avoid the large tailback of vehicles, queuing for entry, to consider placement of skips at appropriate locations, outside the Civic Amenity

REPORT:

The open day at the Civic Amenity once again proved a major success with approximately 2,500 peopleaccessing the site while another 350+ people were given tickets to return before the close of business on Wednesday. Details of tonnages and costs associated with the open day at the facility will be included in the annual Halloween Report that will be circulated to Members.

Given the sheer numbers that presented at the facility on the day a number of issues will need to be address in planning for next year. The options referred to in the motion will be included for consideration in the planning process for Halloween 2013.
