QUESTION NO.10

QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager to provide a detailed report on this council’s implementation of the Croke Park Agreement?

REPLY:

SDCC reported savings of €23m in the first year of the Public Service Agreement with a further €18m in the latest report. These savings arose from initiatives undertaken following extensive and intensive negotiations between Management and Unions. We addressed outdated work practices, reconfigured staff roles as well as implementing national actions as required. Central to the Plan is the need to maximise operational efficiencies, increase productivity and deliver improved customer services within the context of our diminishing resources .There has been a strong emphasis on supporting frontline services and the deliverance of services in innovative and cost effective ways. Such innovations include

·       ASH Project (Applicant Sourced Housing)

·       Choice Based Letting

·       Fix Your Street

·       Procurement Unit

·       Traffic Management Centre

·       Interagency Children’s Services

·       Innovation Enterprise Zones

·       Social Credit System

·       Use of Open Source

Management continue to work with the Trade Unions on an ongoing basis utilising the recognised Industrial Relations machinery to realise the objectives in our Local Action Plan
