QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

To ask the Manager if, in the case of a tenant being offered work / study abroad for a specific period, there are protections for that tenancy?

REPLY:

The Council's Tenancy Agreement with the Tenant outlines criteria of tenancy which includes the following:-

The Tenant shall reside in and occupy the dwelling throughout the duration of the tenancy and shall not without the prior written consent of the Council cease to reside therein for a period or periods in the aggregate exceeding six weeks in any period of fifty-two weeks

Should a Tenant no longer reside in the State they are deemed no longer in need of social housing support.
