QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon

"To ask the Manager to have the litter bins at the lookout area on Killakee Road regularly serviced and the area kept clean, given this this is a much visited beauty spot and that it has in recent times been left in a littered condition?"

REPLY:

The litter bins at the Kilakee Viewing Area are on a daily litter bin collection service route, however due to the low level of usage they in general require servicing on two days per week only.  When the area was inspected recently it was found that domestic waste had been recently dumped in the area resulting in the location being badly littered at the time.  The area engineer in charge of the cleansing section will arrange for a regular clean up of the area to be carried out by his staff.
