MOTION: Councillor D. Looney
That this Committee discuss the plans made by the Council for the area under the remit of this Committee for the Hallowe'en period.
REPORT:
The Council is using a three pronged approach to Halloween in 2012 - Communications, Bonfire Material Reduction and Celebration.
- Communications
- Postcard distribution to all housholds. The Halloween postcard allows free entry to Civic Amenity on Saturday 27th October.
- A Halloween activity pack with information from the Council, Hospital, Gardai, Dublin Bus, Luas, DSPCA will be circulated to all primary schools week commencing 8th October and the pack will be available for download on www.sdcc.ie
- Bonfire material Reduction
- WEEE collections ongoing throughout the county
- Bulbs not Bonfires included in Social Credits –. The closing date for applications is 19th October. Planting will take place over the Halloween period.
- Free access to Civic Amenity, Ballymount on Saturday 27th October for householders with Halloween postcard.
3. Celebration
THE HAUNTED Tallaght
When: Wednesday 31st October 5pm-7pm
Meeting point: Tallaght IT (carpark of Dublin West Educate Together)
Parade along Belgard Square North, left at Belgard Square West and into Library Square to Chamber Square/
Finish point: Chamber Square (beside County Hall, Tallaght Library, Rua Red & Civic theatre)
Following a parade which will display artistic pieces created by young people, there will be a celebration of music, dance and games.
