QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009

"An bhféadfadh leis an gComhairle cur i gcuimhne arís ar  dhaoine  i gcló nó ar an suíomh gréasáin nó ar chomharthaí sna páirceanna sa chontae go bhfuil cosc ar dhumpáil na  dramhaíola glais i bhfeidhm agus gur cóir don Chomhairle iad a mholadh an dramhaíl sin a chur san araid dhonn nó sa mhuríneoir nó an dramhaíl a thabhairt go hionad 'Tabhair Leat'?

Would the Council remind people in print or on the website or on signs throughout the parks in the county that there is a ban on the dumping of green waste and that the Council should recommend  that the green waste be put in the brown bin or in a composter or brought to a 'Bring' centre?"

REPLY:

I gcás ina bhfuil fadhb leanúnach le dumpáil mhídhleathach agus bruscar i gceantar ar bith, spreagtar agus moltar na cónaitheoirí Áitiúla chun tacú leis an gComhairle agus iad ag déanamh an gníomh forfheidhmithe iomchuí le tuarascálacha a dhéanamh chuig an Maor Bruscair le haghaidh imscrúdaithe agus trí fianaise a chur ar fáil agus fianaise a thabhairt sa chúirt ina aonar nó mar ghrúpa comhchoiteann na n-áitritheoirí.

Níl sé mar polasaí ag Comhairle Contae Átha Cliath Theas comharthaí "Dumpáil toirmiscthe" breise a thógáil.

Where there is an ongoing problem of illegal dumping in any area, local residents are urged and encourged to support the Council in taking the appropriate enforcement action by making reports to the Litter Warden for investigation and by providing evidence and testifying in court either individually or as a collective group of residents.

It is not the policy of South Dublin County Council to erect additional "No Dumping" signs.

A review of information on the Council website will be carried out to ensure that sufficient information is available on this matter.
