MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon
That effective boundary treatment be restored to Council owned land at Killinarden Hill Road to pre-Boherboy Scheme levels as there is now continuous incursion by large numbers of horses, largely due to the fact that the gap created by the scheme has never been fully closed.
REPORT:
The gap in the boundary to the Council owned lands on Killinarden Hill Road through which one of the watermains in the Boherboy Water Supply Scheme went has been sealed with a large ditch dug across this gap and a earth berm formed along the edge of the road.
It should be noted that after a request from a local landowner earlier this year the Completion Contractor on the Boherboy Scheme erected a new farm gate and formed a small earth mound and concrete block barrier at this location to prevent access. However the gate was cut down shortly after it was erected and removed.
It should be further noted that the Completion Contractor on the Boherboy Scheme and his Telemetry sub- Contractor will need access to these Council owned fields later in the year to complete work on this watermain and it's chambers and kiosks.
Also the Council has been continuously removing horses from these fields with aproximately 20 rounded up in the last three months. Only one of these 20 horses has been reclaimed from the pound.
