QUESTION NO.9

QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

To ask the Manager to update members on the numbers of households that are liable for the septic tank charge within the county and how many have paid to date (by region if possible)?

REPLY:

Nationally 178,617 householders have registered and paid the Domestic Waste Water registration fee. All homeowners who have a septic tank or waste-water treatment system need to register their system by 1st February 2013.   The registration fee was €5 until 28th September 2012 increasing to €50 after that date.   The number of households liable for the septic tank charge in the South Dublin County Council area is approximately 2,000. The number of Domestic Waste Water Payments made by 1st October 2012 for the South Dublin County area was 566 (€3235), a breakdown of the payments for each County is not available by region at this stage.
