(circulated herewith)
REPLY:
The following report was presented to the Members at the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee Meeting held on 20th September 2012:
“The following report was presented to the March 2012 OP&F meeting:-
“Public representatives on the Tallaght Drugs Force is as follows:
The Council's representation is as follows:
Recent communication from the Tallaght Drugs Task Force outlined concern that the current Council representation does not include any Fianna Fail councillor but has (had) two from the Fine Gael party.
Filling of Councillor Brophy's vacancy is now before the Council for recommendation.” End of report to March 2012 OP&F meeting
At the March OP&F meeting following debate on the matter it was agreed to DEFER consideration of new nomination to the May OP&F Meeting. Members also advised that the Council nominations were on a countywide basis rather than on a political basis and suggested that this and an inflexibility of the Board to re-schedule meetings times be relayed to the TDTF.
The Manager agreed to notify TDTF of the Council's decision to defer new nominations, the issue of political v countywide nominations and difficulties with meeting times.
Filling of Councillor Brophy's vacancy is again before the Council for recommendation". END OF REPORT to May 2012 OP&F Meeting
It was AGREED at the May 2012 OP&F to write to Tallaght Drugs Task Force advising that Mondays at 7.00 pm would be a more suitable time for public representatives to attend TDTF meetings, and to defer making recommendation on the filling of the vacancy to the next meeting of the Organisation, Procedure & Finance Committee in September, pending clarification on the day/time that would suit the Members.
Correspondence has since been received from TDTF outlining status quo in relation to the current scheduling of meeting, at least until end of 2012 (see attached).
The filling of the existing Councillor vacancy on the Tallaght Drugs Task Force is once again before the Council for recommendation.” End of Report to September OP&F Meeting.
It was proposed by Councillor T. Gilligan, seconded by Councillor C. Brophy and AGREED:
“That Councillor J. Lahart be nominated to fill the vacancy on the Tallaght Drugs Task Force arising from Councillor C. Brophy’s resignation.”
This matter is now before the Council for approval.
