QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"To ask the Manager if she will make a report on any assessment by the Council of the condition of the boundary wall of a property (name of house supplied) on Esker Hill, Lucan, adjacent to the VEC, Lucan LIFE Centre, and if the Council has found that the wall is at risk of collapse, and if so can the Council arrange for necessary repairs to be carried out as soon as possible and subsequently recover the cost of the repairs from the registered owner?"
REPLY:
The wall was initially inspected by a Senior Engineer from Roads Department and last week by the County Architect, who is responsible for Dangerous Structures. The wall is considered dangerous and requires attention. A Notice under Section 3(1) (a) of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act 1964 has issued to the owner of the wall to carry out remedial works to the wall within 4 weeks of the date of the Notice.
If these works are not carried out, the Council will render the wall safe and will seek to recover costs from the owner. The dangerous section of the wall will be removed and the wall made safe; however, the wall will not be reinstated.
