QUESTION: Councillor C. Bond

"To ask the Manager for an update on ongoing taking in charge works at the open space in Hunters Meadow and if he will make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

The Taking in Charge of the open space in the Hunters Meadow development has been the subject of a number of meetings and discussions between the Council and the developer.  Details of the minimum works required to complete the landscape plan and to remediate substandard works were presented to the Developer.  

Following confirmation from the Parks and Landscape Services Section that the developer, Ellier, has failed to carry out the necessary works to remediate the open space and boundary treatment at Hunters Meadow the Planning Dept has re-issued its claim on the bond with Allied Irish Band (AIB) and is pursuing same to obtain funds to complete the works or the appointment of a contractor (by AIB) to do so. The works include path repair, boundary construction, hedgerow planting, removal of dead trees and de-compaction and reinstatement of the open space itself.
