MOTION NO. 20
MOTION: Councillor M. Corr
That this Committee acknowledges and congratulates all relevant staff and the significant numbers of residents in the Tallaght area for their efforts in ensuring the meaningful improvement of Tallaght in the recent IBAL Litter League tables.
REPORT:
The recent IBAL report in early September rated Tallaght 26th out of 42 towns and cities surveyed and gave it an overall rating of Clean to European Norms. It should be noted that in previous surveys this was the highest rating possible, however this has now been replaced by a Cleaner than European Norms category. The comments made by the IBAL surveyors were as follows -
'Still not perfect but the best result ever for Tallaght – the local authority and the people of Tallaght should be proud. Six out of the ten sites got the top litter grade and the remainder were moderately littered i.e. there were no seriously littered sites. Aldi (Tallaght Cross), Tallaght LUAS and Tallaght Village were not just clear of litter but very well maintained. Sean Walsh Park was moderately littered but care needs to be taken to ensure that the water feature doesn’t harbour more litter. '
