QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"To ask the Manager for a report on the follow-up to issues raised at on-site meetings at the Ballydowd and Newcastle Road interchanges which were requested and agreed to during discussions on my motion at the June meeting?"

REPLY:

The contractor, Jons Civil Engineering Ltd., is cutting the grass and removing litter in the landscaped areas, until December 2012. After that, the area will be taken in charge by SDCC Parks Department and it will be possible to change the landscape and the maintenance schedule.

During the meeting various elements of the road structure were also discussed and explained. This included safety and noise barriers. The configuration of the approach lane to the service road including the direction signage for the various services available to passing motorists was discussed. The signage provided includes the symbols for a fuel station and food.
