"That this Committee congratulates the Lucan Tidy Towns Committee on its success in Lucan again winning its Category Award in South Dublin in the national Tidy Towns Competition, and further compliments the LTTC in the work it has done, in collaboration with the Council, in encouraging other areas in the Lucan and Clondalkin Electoral Areas to enter the national Tidy Towns competition."
REPORT:
There were 5 entries from South Dublin County in the 2012 Tidy towns competition, including Lucan. The reports for all entries can be found at this link. The marks awarded to Lucan increased from 278 in 2011 to 283 in 2012 with some very positive comments about the work of the committee. Lucan also won the South Dublin County award in 2012. The adjudication reports includes comments under the various judging categories
Members of the Lucan committee were instrumental in promoting the Tidy Towns competition in the County at a public meeting arranged by the Council in February 2012. Committee members provided a valuable insight into the operation of Tidy Towns committee and the practical aspects of work on the ground. In 2011 Lucan were the sole representative from South Dublin County and in 2012 this number increased to five.
Following the release of the results, the Council will arrange a meeting of all the Tidy Towns groups in October. This will be a further opportunity for groups to share learning and information.
If this motion is passed , the committee's congratulations will be passed on to the Tidy Towns committee in Lucan.
