QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"To ask the Manager if she will convey the compliments of the Lucan Area Committee to Maire ni Dhomhnaill and her colleagues on their work in promoting participation in the national Tidy Towns Committee by villages and other areas in the County to participate in the national Tidy Towns competition?"
REPLY:
There were 5 entries from South Dublin County in the 2012 Tidy towns competition, including Lucan, Griffeen, Palmerston, Clondalkin and Rathfarnham. The reports for all entries can be found at this link. The marks were awarded and comments made under the following judging categories
The Council will continue to work with all Tidy Towns groups with all its resources across Departments and sections including Cleansing, Parks, Consevation and Heritage, Roads, Libraries and Community. Some of the Council's initiatives which support the Tidy Towns committees include Social Credits System, Community awards and Beautiful South competition, Green schools programme, implementation of Litter management programme, cleansing schedule, graffitii and parks programme. The Council will arrange meetings with the groups to prioritise the work programme for 2013. In additiion a meeting of all the Tidy Towns groups will be arranged in October. This will be an opportunity for groups to share learning and information.
If this question is approved, the Committee's congratulations will be passed on to all the Council staff involved in supporting South Dublin County in the National Tidy Towns competition.
