Cathaoirleach’s Business

That this Committee expresses its unhappiness with the slow pace of the legal proceedings being taken by the Council regarding the derelict former McHugh's Site, Greenhills. This Committee calls for the removal of all graffiti from the hoardings and a general tidy-up of the site and its surrounds in the immediate future.

REPORT:

The legal proceedings taken by South Dublin County Council are in respect of a Derelict Sites Levy Demand for 2009 in the sum of €60K.  The Council is subject to Court process and the case is currently adjourned until 26th October 2012.  At this stage it appears that the site owners (McHugh Management Company Ltd) are not likely to be in a position  to make payment in the foreseeable future.  The site has, since the instigation of legal proceedings for the levy demand, had works carried out which rendered it non derelict.  However a fresh inspection of the site was requested on the 3rd September 2012.  The responsible person(s) will be requested to carry out any works which may be recommended by the Council's Area Engineer in order to prevent dereliction or render the site non derelict.
