MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney
Following my June motion relating to Clondalkin Community Centre and its environs, could I request that the manager presents a report on tackling the litter/dumping issue in the park & waterways, the unkempt landscaping, etc
REPORT:
A litter clean up of the general environs of the Clondalkin Community Centre has recently been undertaken by staff from the Council's Parks Section, Environmental Services Department. A Tús worker has also recently been employed by South Dublin Leisure Services Ltd in a maintenance capacity to ensure that the grounds/environs of the Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre are maintained to a high standard.
Further the Clondalkin Tidy Towns Committee continue to regularly maintain the lane leading up to the Centre as well as the carpark attaching to this facility.
The Tús initiative is a community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people. The work opportunities are to benefit the community and are to be provided by community and voluntary organisations in both urban and rural areas. The Tús initiative is managed by local development companies and Údarás na Gaeltachta for the Department of Social Protection, which has overall responsibility for the scheme.
