QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

To ask the Manager for an update on the statistics relevant to the Choice-Based Letting, Applicant Sourced Housing and the overall Social Housing Leasing Initiative for the area under the remit of this Committee, and to make a statement on the progress being made in meeting housing need in this area.

REPLY:

To date the Council has processed a total of 392 expressions of interest in respect of of privately owned properties in the Tallaght electoral area for inclusion in the Social Housing Leasing Initiative of which 53 were sourced by housing applicants through the ASH process. The following table outlines the status of these properties

The Council continues to explore all expressions of interest in the leasing initiative from owners of private properties for inclusion in the social leasing initiative. Properties will be considered subject to suitabilty for social use and good estate management principles.

The enhanced roll out of the ASH process is ongoing with the issue of 60 letters to housing applicants on a fortnightly basis for alternate sides of the Naas Road  in order of placement on the housing list.      

Full implementation of the Choice Based Letting Scheme (C B L) commenced on 14/10/2011 and is now fully operational and very successful.  Voluntary Housing Associations have also agreed to be included in the scheme.

To date 129 dwellings have been advertised and allocated for the South of the Naas Road housing area as follows:-
