QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"To ask Manager to review the finish of the entrance to the Darglewood footpath at the Templeroan end and to outline the works required to complete this project as there are currently loose stones in the grass verge?"

REPLY:

Following the substantial completion of the permeability project in Dargle Wood the Council submitted an application to the National Transport Authority to construct new Toucan crossings at either side of the scheme (on Knocklyon Road and Templeroan Road) to facilitate crossing by pedestrians and cyclists. Funding has been approved for the proposed works by the National Transport Authority in the recent weeks. The Toucan crossings are currently being designed with a view to construct before the end of the year. These works will involve removal of the grass verge at the location in question to allow the crossing to be constructed so the loose gravel will be removed accordingly.
