Minutes of Environment SPC meeting held on 6^th February 2012.

Matters Arising

Cllr Hannon introduced welcomed Ms Keegan to the Environment SPC committee

Item 3

DECLG public consultation on the review of the smoky coal ban regulations

A summary report on the “DECLG public consultation on the review of the smoky coal ban regulations” was provided by Joanna Troughton, Environmental Health Officer. Following contributions from Cllr Walsh, Cllr Bonner and Cllr Hannon , Ms  Troughton responded to the issues raised by the members and stated that South Dublin Count  Council  would be making a submission to the consultation process. The Deadline for submissions is 17^th May 2012.

2010 Annual report on the Dublin Waste Management plan

Following an introduction to item 4 from Mr Quinlivan and Cllr Hannon a presentation on the “2010 Annual report on the Dublin Waste Management plan” was provided by Mr Warren Phelan RPS Group. Following contributions from Cllr Walsh, Cllr Tuffy, Cllr La Hart and Cllr Hannon Mr Phelan and Director of Services Mr Quinlivan responded to the issues raised by the members.

Item 5

Evaluation of the Waste Management Plan for the Dublin Region

Following an introduction to item 5 from Mr Quinlivan a report on the “Evaluation of the Waste Management Plan for the Dublin Region” was presented byMr Warren Phelan RPS Group.

Item 6

Biodiversity Plan update

An update report on the Biodiversity Plan was provided by Rosaleen Dwyer, Heritage Officer. Following contributions from Cllr O’Connell & a request that the submission deadline be extended to the end of September, Ms Dwyer state that the consultation process could be extended to the end of September.

 

Item 7

Dumping in Mountains/upland area

Item 7 was not reached however following a contribution from Ms Kiernan a decision was made to set up a subgroup that would look at this item consisting of Cllr Hannon, Cllr O’Connell, Ms Kiernan and Mr Lee. It was also stated that PURE would be requested to present to the sub-group.
