COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, September 11, 2012
MOTION NO. 7
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
"That the Manager give a report on the severe overcrowding at address supplied. There are now three families living there."
REPORT:
This address is a privately owned dwelling and not in South Dublin County Council's Housing Stock. The Council's Allocations Section has two applications included on the Housing List from this address, daughters of the owners. Both applications are listed for two bedroom accommodation and have indicated a preference for housing in the area, South of the Naas Road. Prior to the introduction of the Choice Based Letting Scheme no offers of housing were made due to time on list. Both applicants are listed as in receipt of a social welfare payment and therefore may be eligible to source alternative accommodation through the private rented sector with rent supplementary allowance.
Since the introduction of CBL in November 2011 the Council has advertised 35 two bedroom dwellings South of the Naas Road. One applicant expressed interest in two of these dwellings in December 2011, the other applicant has not made any expressions of interest to date.
