QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
To ask that the Manager outlines how much this Council will get from central government this year and how much SDCC received last year?
REPLY:
Grants totalling €35,795,457 were received by South Dublin County Council for a wide range of activities and projects during the period 1 January to 25 August 2012. These included €5,078,556 received for capital projects and €30,716,900 received for projects and schemes delivered via the 2012 operational budget. Details regarding the final value of 2012 grant receipts are not yet available. State funding is received for a wide range of activities including:
· direct recoupment of costs such as the rental accommodation scheme,
· recoupment of loan repayments made on behalf of voluntary housing associations,
· capital claims for infrastructural projects,
· road grants,
· community employment schemes,
· higher education grants
· the local government fund
Grants totalling €142,797,542 were received by South Dublin County Council in 2011. These included €81,833,590 (of which €45,340,925 relates to M50 improvements/third lane) received for capital projects and €60,963,952 received for projects and schemes which were provided via the operational budget in 2011.
