QUESTION NO. 20
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Manager for a report on the budget allocation for Grass Cutting in open spaces, grass verges on roadways and medians per electoral area for 2012 and how this relates to the service provided in previous years and what reduction, if any has taken place/is planned from that agreed by the members when approving the 2012 Budget?
REPLY:
The budget allocation for grass cutting of open spaces and local roads is provided for in the Revenue Budget in Division F under the sub programme F03, Outdoor Leisure Operations.
The provision is made on a county wide basis and the budget adopted by the Members for 2012 was €12,709,600 of which approximately €3.1 million is required to complete the Grass Cutting Programme. Budgets are not assigned on the basis of electoral area however data is being gathered through the Council's new Scheduling System that will facilitiate area specific reporting from next year.
The maintenance of National Roads is undertaken in association with the Council's Transportation Department and is subject to funding from the National Roads Authority.
