SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 27
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009
Maidir leis an bhfáilte a cuireadh roimh an trealamh aclaíochta nua sna páireanna ar fud an chontae an bhféadfadh leis an gComhairle Contae tuilleadh trealamh súgartha bunúsacha do leanaí a sholáthar in aice nó i gcóngar na láithreacha atá an trealamh aclaíochta lonnaithe do dhaoine fásta agus do dhéagóirí?
With regard to the welcome given to the new exercise equipment in the parks around the county, would the County Council provide more basic play equipment for children beside or near the areas where the exercise equipment is located for adults and teenagers?
REPLY:
D'éirigh thar cionn leis an trealamh aclaíochta faoin aer a cuireadh ar fáil in aon pháirc déag, mar atá le feiceáil leis an líon daoine, ag gach aois, atá Á n-úsáid.
Níl aon phleananna ag an Chomhairle faoi láthair, trealamh clós súgartha a chur le taobh an trealaimh aclaíochta. Tá sé mar aidhm ag an Chomhairle clós súgartha ina bhfuil trealamh a chur ar fáil mar atá leagtha amach sa Pholasaí Súgartha, ar glacadh leis ag cruinniú na Comhairle i mí Iúil. Beidh suíomh na gclós súgartha trealmhaithe amach anseo bunaithe ar réimse tosca, na háiteanna ina bhfuil clóis shúgartha lonnaithe faoi láthair agus an maoiniú cuí chun an polasaí a chur chun cinn san Áireamh. Áit a bhfuil páirc, ina bhfuil trealamh aclaíochta ann freisin, san Áireamh sa Chlár Súgartha, breathnófar ar chlós súgartha a chur sa cheantar céanna leis an trealamh aclaíochta, má cheaptar go bhfuil sé feiliúnach.
The provision of the outdoor exercise equipment in eleven parks throughout the county has proven to be very successful as evidenced by the amount of activity and use by people of all ages.
The Council has no immediate proposals to provide playground equipment in the vicinity of outdoor exercise equipment. It is the Council's intention to continue to provide equipped children's playgrounds in accordance with the Play Policy, which was formally approved at the July Meeting of the Council. The future location of equipped playgrounds will be based on a range of factors including the distribution of existing playgrounds and the availablity of the necessary finance to advance the programme. Where a park, which also has exercise equipment, is included in the Playground Programme, consideration will be given to locating the playground in the general vicinity of the exercise equipment, if considered appropriate.
