QUESTION:  Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Manager for a report on the budget allocation for Maintenance of our parks including playing pitches per electoral area for 2012 and how this relates to the service provided in previous years and what reduction, if any has taken place/is planned from that agreed by the members when approving the 2012 Budget.

REPLY:

The maintenance of parks, including playing pitches is provided for in the Revenue Budget in Division F under the sub programme F03, Outdoor Leisure Operations.

The provision is made on a county wide basis and the budget adopted by the Members for 2012 was €12,709,600. The cost of pitch maintenance is included in the overall cost of the Grass Cutting Programme (€3.1million). Budgets are not assigned on the basis of electoral area however data is being gathered through the Council's new Scheduling System that will facilitiate area specific reporting from next year.

The budget adopted by the Members for 2011 for Division F, sub progranmme F03, Outdoor leisure Operations was €12,793,210.
