MOTION NO.7

MOTION: Councillor C. King

That this Council calls on any Voluntary Housing Association that calculates FIS (Family Income Supplement) as assessible income in terms of their assesment of Rent to desist from this immoral and possibly un-Constitutional practice with immediate affect. FIS is a tax free payment made specifically to families on low incomes to support the family and is not calculated by this Council as income for the purposes of rent assessment or as income when assessments for medical cards are made and should be viewed the same way Childrens allowance is viewed in this regard.

REPORT:

If the motion is passed the terms of the motion will be conveyed to Voluntary Housing Associations operating within South Dublin County.
