To ask the Manager to give a general update on the Tidy Towns campaign across the County and in particular to address the relationship of the social credit scheme to participation in the Tidy Towns competition?
REPLY:
The Council meets with Tidy Towns groups on a regular basis. There are five applications from South Dublin County in the 212 National Tidy Towns competition:
Ø Lucan
Ø Clondalkin
Ø Rathfarnham
Ø Palmerston
Ø Lucan Griffeen
Other areas working towards entering next year – Rathcoole, Newcastle and Raheen/St Marks. The Tidy Towns groups are being supported by the Council through the Social Credits System. This includes provision of materials for cleanups, collection and disposal of material, support for planting and other supports as required.
