QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine
“To ask the Manager that future erection of railings/gates etc within Estates like Drumcairn be of black wrought iron effect - replacing the ubiquitous galvanized/industrialized steel that detracts from creative spaces? “
REPLY:
The purpose of erecting railings and gates is normally to combat anti social activity at various locations throughout the County. There are many requests for such fencing on an annual basis throughout the County. The reason for erecting galavanized steel railings / gates is due to the cost and our requirement to obtain best value for money for the available scarce resources. The cost of wrough iron railings / gates is nearly double the cost of the galvanized version.
