PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 - INITIATION OF PART 8 PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 TO 2007 - PROPOSED PART 8 PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF FOOTPATHS AND CYCLE PATHS FROM:

(a) BAWNOGUE TO THE FONTHILL ROAD

(b) BAWNOGUE TO THE GRAND CANAL

   

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has awarded the County Council 2 grants under the Sustainable Transport Measures to plan, design and consult on the provision of two permeability projects in the Bawnogue area.  It is proposed to commence a Part 8 public consultation process for the construction of footpaths and cycle paths across the open space linking;

(a)       The Neighbourhood Centre at Bawnogue with the Fonthill Road and the estates of Ashwood and Alpine Heights.

The proposal will include the construction of a lit pedestrian and cycle link of approximately 600 meters from the Fonthill Road via Alpine Heights and Ashwood to the local centre.

(b)       The Grand Canal with Ashwood estate and the Bawnogue Road.

The proposal will include the construction of a lit pedestrian and cycle link of approximately 492 meters from the Grand Canal to the estates of Ashwood and Lindisfarne.

A map of the proposed routes is available at the meeting.

With the agreement of the Members, it is proposed to advertise the proposed works at the earliest opportunity.
