MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney

That the Manager presents a report to this Committee detailing the street litter bin emptying roster and investigates/proposes ways to improve the system which is clearly not working and inadequate for the Clondalkin Village area.

REPORT:

The litter bin collection service operates Monday to Friday; it is not operational on week ends or on Public Holidays.

There are a total of 90 bins in service in the Clondalkin area. 

Previously, when  the relevant litter bin operative was not in attendance the route was covered by the other litter bin operatives who merged their routes for that particular period of time.  However, the Area Engineer has recently changed this arrangement in order to prioritise the litter bin collections.  The new arrangements involve the diversion of a member of staff from other Cleansing work to drive the spare vehicle to complete the litter bin route for the required timeframe which will ensure constant servicing of litter bins in the Clondalkin area from Monday to Friday.
