MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

QUESTION NO. 12

QUESTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody

"To ask the Manager to confirm a meeting of the Rathfarnham village traders on the 27th February 2012.  It is understood that after a walk through of the village many issues from overgrowth of weeds on footpaths and flower beds, the Smart Telecom phone box, the notion of making the refuse bins more accessible, plus quite a number of other items were discussed.  Could you confirm what if any progress has been made in the seven weeks since that meeting to improve the area and tackle the items identified during that walk about?   I’m calling for the Council to provide a written programme to be put in place to resolve these matters and for that programme to be made available to the village traders?"

REPLY:

Since the meeting with the Rathfarnham Village traders a number of meetings and actions have been taken. Two public meetings have been arranged and as a result the Rathfarnham Village & District Tidy Towns group has been established. An operations programme to address each of the items has been put in place. The disused telephone boxes have been removed. The Council is working with the residents to work towards making Rathfarnham litter free and a better place to live, work and visit.
