QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"To ask the Manager for an update on the completion of the pathway and fencing at Dargle Wood?"

REPLY:

Works commenced on site on Tuesday 15th November 2011.  The east-west route was completed in early April and during the dry weather in May the top soil was leveled and the area adjacent to the footpaths was reinstated and grass seeded. Access gates have been erected at all four entrance points. These will be painted black in the coming week to match the railings. The boundaries to the east and west have been completed with low wall and railings. The railings to the south in Dargle Wood Lower are complete. There are railings and access points awaited for Dargle Wood Upper and Scholarstown Park; these are on order. The Parks Department is awaiting the return of a carved name stone for the entrance piers. Ducting and lights were installed in April; (awaiting ESB connection). Graffiti removal has taken place on the walls of the open space.  The proposed planting will occur in the autumn planting season.
