QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

To ask the Manager to report on the numbers of people who have applied for and the number who have received grants under the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability Scheme, Mobility Aids Grants Scheme and Housing Aid for Older People Scheme, broken down by the lowest geographical subset available; to compare the grants applied for and received to previous years; and to make a statement on the future of the schemes?

REPLY:

The following are the statistics for grant applications, approvals, and payments under the various schemes from 2010 to 2012 to date.

It should be noted that the figures quoted for approvals and payments are not directly comparable to the numbers of application received in any given year as some payments occur in the following year.   Statistical records on the various schemes are not kept on a geographical basis but the information will be compiled on an electoral are basis and forwarded to the Councillor.

80% of the funding for the grant schemes is provided on an annual basis by the DOEHLG.  The Council will continue to actively operate all three grant schemes while such funding is provided.   It is anticipated that there will be sufficient funding available this year for a similar level activity to 2011.
