MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

"That the Planning Department would assess the feasibility of developing a set of protocols/guidelines for the presentation/design of shop fronts and fronts of other businesses in Lucan Village, which would be consistent with the important architectural features of the Village, as set out in the Lucan Village Design Statement." 

REPORT:

It is considered that the Lucan Village Design Statement in conjunction with the County Development Plan 2010 (Policies S35, S36, S37, S38 and S39; pages 230-231) provide sufficient guidance in relation to the design of shop fronts.  A further set of protocols/guidelines for one specific area would require a level of design detail that is not feasible for the Planning Department to provide at present.
