Mozart's The Magic Flute  Children's Opera - on Lucan Village Green - Music Theatre Ireland's Operantics will provide an afternoon of family entertainment performing a classic children's opera.  Workshops will take place for students and families in advance of the public performance in local schools and libraries.  This year's opera is an adaptation for children of Mozart's The Magic Flute.

World Music Programme  - Workshops and Outdoor Performance with Tig Linn
A week long programme of world music performances.  This programme will culminate with an interactive public performance incorporating as many as 400 students from the workshops throughout the week.

Classical
This year sees students from the Royal Irish Academy of Music visit Lucan during the week of Ruaille Buaille Lucan! where they will facilitate a number of concert workshops in schools and in Lucan Library.  The classical programme also welcomes gifted guitarist Pavlos Kanellakis who will deliver an energetic classical guitar recital and discussion on the use of the guitar in classical music.  Well-known pianist and composer for theatre, Conor Linehan, will also provide workshops and performances to celebrate the 150th birthday of Debussy.

MARKETING AND TARGET AUDIENCE

Traditionally marketing for Ruaille Buaille has been in the form of festival brochures distributed to all 19 schools, in the Lucan, Adamstown and Palmerstown areas, as well as throughout South Dublin County Council Library Services and through  the South Dublin Arts Office database, with a print run of 7000 brochures and 200 posters,  as well as designated flyers for particular events.  For 2012 we have developed an extensive database of interested families sourced through questionnaires at the 2011 festival.  Also an extension of family events will aim to increase local family participation.  A festival display panel outside each school, in local parks and public areas as well as Lucan Library will provide targeted family marketing.

Advertising is placed in local newspapers The Lucan Gazette, Lucan Echo and in family magazine for Dublin and neighbouring counties Primary Times Leinster.  A press release is sent to all local and national newspapers, weekly, from 4 weeks prior to the festival and the usual press listings are distributed.  The Arts Office, Library Services and Artscope all have the full brochure information up on their websites arts.southdublin.ie, www.southdublinlibraries.ie and www.artscope.ie   Twitter and facebook will also be used extensively for the 2012 festival.  The festival has been up on www.discoverireland.ie and failte Ireland websites since January of this year.  Other entertainment and leisure sites will receive all information from this week.

ADVANCE MARKETING:
February & March 2012 saw a pre-marketing campaign take place in all Primary Schools in Lucan, Palmerstown and Adamstown where students were invited to submit an image, which they thought best represents Ruaille Buaille Lucan! and the winning entry will be used on all brochures, flyers, posters and advertising material for the 2012 festival.  This year saw 798 students take part in the competition.  The prize was announced at a Ruaille Buaille Lucan! Seachtain na Gaeilge concert given by SLIDE on March 7th in the Church of Ireland, Lucan and was attended by 600 students and teachers.  The winning entry was Atheena Silao, St Andrews NS, Lucan, a further 12 students were shortlisted and will have their work on exhibition at Lucan Library for the duration of the festival.  This exhibition will be opened at the Launch of Ruaille Buaille Lucan! on Tuesday 5th June in Lucan Library.
