COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor C. Jones
"To ask the manager for an update regarding the timeline surrounding the relocation of the park depot at Esker Lane to facilitate the permanent school building for Esker Educate Together?"
REPORT:
As reported to the Area Committee Meeting on 24th January 2012, the Council and the Department of Education and Skills had been co-ordinating both projects so that they advanced in tandem. The Council and the Department of Education and Skills were awaiting the determination of the planning appeal on the school site by An Bord Pleanála before advancing with the plans for the new Park Depot.
Earlier this month, An Bord Pleanála advised the Council that it was still not in a position to determine the appeal. As a result, the Department of Education and Skills has now advised the Council that the agreement relating to the school site and new depot is not contingent on the outcome of the appeal on the school site and that the Council can proceed with the planning works on the new depot.
The County Architect has therefore been requested to proceed with the detailed design of the new Parks Depot in Grange Park. It is expected that following completion of the detailed design and preparation of specifications for the works, that the project will go out to tender towards the end of this year.
