QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor E. Higgins

To ask the Manager to outline the process by which the selected route (once published) for the proposed upgraded N81 is written in to the County Development Plan and to explain what level of consultation there will be with members of the public, in particular residents living along the proposed route, and elected representatives?

REPLY:

The N81 is identified as a "major transport route on the national scale" in the Development Plan. and the "N81 from M50 to Hollywood Cross Road Improvement Scheme" as a long term roads objective.

The Kildare National Road Design Office are in the process of preparing the Route Selection report for the above project. The public consultation processes held to date, along with significant analysis under a full range of headings will influence the decisions made by the design office. South Dublin County Council have been represented at Senior Engineer Level on the steering group for the N81. Every point of interest or concern raised by the public or elected members regarding the N81 has been brought to the attention of the design team.
