QUESTION NO. 18
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Manager for a report on the planned maintenance (for 2012 with the allocation) of the median (where it exists) and the grass margins on the National and Local Primary and Secondary Roads and the cost of this work in 2009, 2010 and 2011?
REPLY:
Parks and Roads Maintenance have agreed a programme for grass cutting of medians and verges on the N4 and N81 for Saturday 19th and 26th of May 2012.
N4 will be cut from the boundary with Dublin City Council to the M50 and from Leixlip Interchange to the boundary with Kildare County Council.
N81 will be cut from Templogue at Cypress Grove Road/Old Bridge Road Junction to the junction at Killinarden/Entrance to Whitestown Way Industrial Estate.
These costs include both Roads Maintenance Traffic Management Costs and Parks labour and machinery costs.
2009: TOTAL: €38,450.
2010: TOTAL: €52,450
2011: TOTAL: € 66,000
2012: EST : €50,000
The NRA allocation for National Primary Maintenance is reduced in 2012 from €76,765 to €69,051.
In 2013, it is expected that all the National Primary routes will be maintained by NRA private contractors and SDCC will have no Ordinary Maintenance allocation.
There will be a maintenance allocation for the National Secondary route N81 in 2013. All maintenance on other routes (including former sections of the N4 and N81 inside M50 ring) will be financed by Dept of Transport grants and SDCC own resources.
