QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
Would the Manager give a general update on the Tidy Towns campaign across the County and in Tallaght in particular and if she is satisified that the campaign is fully supported across all communities?
REPLY:
Over a hundred people attended the Tidy Towns Public Meeting held in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 16th February this year. This was an information meeting with speakers from Lucan Tidy Towns, a Public Realm designer and a Tidy Towns adjudicator present with information stands from the Council, An Taisce, CCRI. As a result of this meeting the organisation of meetings in local areas to encourage the formation of local Tidy Town groups was requeste by local residents and elected members. Local Tidy Towns meetings have been held in the following locations throughout the County -
As a result of these events groups from various parts of localities have come together, contact has been made between residents, businesses and schools, Tidy Towns committees have been set up, clean -ups have been arranged and an active ownership of areas has been undertaken by the public. The Council has supported and promoted these events and will liaise with local groups.
It is proposed to hold a local Tidy Towns meeting in IT Tallaght on Tuesday 22nd May in order to encourage the establishment of a Tidy Towns group in the Tallaght area. Local residents and groups will be invited to attend.
