COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, May 08, 2012
MOTION NO. 1
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager engage with the Knocklyon Network group who are seeking land in the Knocklyon area to start up an Allotment scheme".
REPORT:
The Council currently provides a total of 257 plots accross the County in allotments at Tymon, Friarstown, Corcagh and Mill Lane.
Currently, the only proposed additional plots planned are at an extension of the existing site at Friarstown. However, this is conditional on suitable funding being identified for the works required.
While there is no site currently identified for a proposed allotment development in the Knocklyon area, the proposal from the Knocklyon Network is worthy of consideration and staff will engage with the group to discuss how this project can be progressed. It must be noted that this project is not part of the Council's Capital Programme and will require a source of funding to be established in order for it to proceed.
