QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to report on the number of times over the past two years that council staff have had to hydraulically drag and flush the troublesome stretch of public mains at Beech Park & Lucan Heights (running adjacent to the open space), the costs involved; and if it is intended to carry out repairs work to permanently address the problems with the stretch of public mains?
REPLY:
The Water Services Drainage Section has not had any problems with the sewer between Lucan Heights and Beech Park in Lucan recently but has had to carry dragging and flushing in the past. The number of times in the last two years are not readily available. The problem with the sewer in this area is that it is very flat with little or no gradient on it and therefore prone to blockages. The Drainage Section will investigate the situation and see if there is any easy solution to the problem.
