COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, April 24, 2012
QUESTION NO. 13
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Manger to outline the history and legal situation where cars are parked on the “hard kerb” between the footpath and the roadway in residential areas and to include the legislation or bye-law that makes it an offence now under the parking regulations of this County for residents in the Lucan Electoral Area to park in the above space where traditionally they have done so without penalty and to explain why (if it is now an offence) public representatives and local residents have not been informed?
REPLY:
Parking on a footpath or grass margin is an offence under Section 36(i) of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 and as such is enforced by the Gardaí. When such a matter is brought to the attention of the Council, residents or their representatives are advised to contact the Gardaí for enforcement.
