MOTION NO. 7

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

That this Area Committee, noting the recently-received request from the Griffeen Glen Residents Association, again requests the Manager to install a timer-controlled locking mechanism on the pedestrian gate at Griffeen Glen Park/Elm Green so as to address anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of the gate; and to add barriers at either side of this gate to dissuade speedy approach to the gate by scrambler bikes, etc.

REPORT:

As previously reported to the Area Committee in October 2011, the existing entrance gate was to be modified and a kissing gate provided.  This is following on from the experience of the trial closure of the gate in June 2011. The kissing gate is in keeping with the majority of the entrances to the park and is the most cost effective method to control unauthorised vehicle access at the location.
