QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Manager for a progress update on the provision of the TASC Pavilion in Tymon Park, and to make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

Tenders were advertised in 2011 for the construction of the TASC pavilion and a suitable contractor was identified to undertake the work.  However, work cannot commence on the project until such time as the legal issues concerning the Deed of Covenant and Charge, required by the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport, have been resolved by the Chief State Solicitor's Office (CSSO).  It is anticipated that as soon as these issues have been resolved, that the Council will be free to move the project forward.  As the CSSO is a separate entity, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport is unable to give a definite timeframe for the resolution of the legal matters. They have, however, requested that the CSSO deal with the matter as quickly as possible.
