MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

QUESTION NO. 20

QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh

To ask the Manager to provide an update on the relocation of the bottle bank that was removed from the car park at the Bawnogue shops and whether any contact has been made with the Bawnogue Enterprise and Community Centre to discuss whether the bottle bank could be placed inside their grounds, close to the other recycling facilities at that site?

REPLY:

The bottle bank was removed from its previous location due to requests from the land owner. We are aware that the local residents in the area are keen to get a bring bank back in the area to encourage recycling. The Council met with the Manager of the complex and there are possibilities in the area, particularly at the back of the complex. There is an entrance and exit route through the complex but it is narrow for vehicular traffic. The Manager has expressed concerns relating to the maintenance of the site in particular littering and the Council will continue to address the matters raised.
