QUESTION NO. 15
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager can the bins in the Clondalkin area be emptied more frequently? There is a serious problem with these litter bins being full to overflowing. This is particularly so at the weekends. People are trying not to litter but it is very difficult to put litter in the bins when they are overflowing.
REPLY:
Bins are collected Monday to Friday and the frequency of collection is determined by the volume of waste material removed from the bins (certain bins would warrant collection every day due to high usage). Some bins are being used to dispose of domestic waste and bottles and this is resulting in the volume of the bin being greatly diminished for the disposal of light litter such as wrappers and papers. The Council is continuing to review the behaviour of waste disposal in the area with a view to expanding the network of litter bins in the area.
If there is an area that requires consideration the details should be forwarded to the Cleansing Section of the Council and the matter can be examined.
