MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
That the Manager directs that the name stone for Clondalkin on the N7/Boot Road turn off, be positioned to face the traffic. Currently it is facing in the wrong direction, so it needs a 180 degree turn.
REPORT:
The area around the Clondalkin name stone (which is situated on the grass verge at the Boot Road exit from the Naas Road ( N7)) has been examined and it is proposed to relocate this name stone to the existing grass island at the junction of the Green Isle Link Road and Boot Road. This is a more prominent location and the relocation would mean that the stone would face directly towards oncoming traffic, approaching Clondalkin Village. The surrounds of the stone could then be enhanced with feature planting, new kerbing etc. as a fitting welcome feature for visitors to Clondalkin Village, subject to funding being available. This proposal will be discussed further with the Roads Department and the Clondalkin Tidy Towns Committee with a view to having the various enhancement options considered, as soon as possible.
