QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh

Further to Question No 13 at the February 15th, 2012 meeting of the Area Committee, regarding the request for closure of the laneway between Commons Road and Boot Road, can the Manager confirm that a petition from residents on this matter was received in 2011 requesting closure of the laneway and on that basis can the Council now consider action on the matter?

REPLY:

There is no record in the Roads Department of a petition in 2011 from local residents requesting the closure of this laneway. Title to this laneway is unregistered in Land Registry.

If a petition is received from those residents immediately adjoining the laneway identifying their concerns, and requesting that the public right of way be extinguished, the matter will be brought to the Clondalkin Area Committee for its recommendation. Staff from the Roads Department are available to discuss the extinguishment procedure with the local residents.
